The Federal Office for Health Security was informed by the Italian authority that a humane WNV infection has been recorded in the province of Asti (Piedmont Region), which is why the ID WNV NAT testing was introduced in this region as well.
Nationwide in Italy, donors who have stayed at least one night in the mentioned region are excluded from donation for 28 days.
We therefore ask you to pay attention to this in the anamnesis interviews and donor selection. This letter corresponds to the current information status of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
