General information

The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) is not entitled to make individual therapy recommendations. The treatment and the treatment schedule are determined individually for the patient by the physician and are subject exclusively to the responsibility of the treating physician.

The BASG cannot oblige companies to produce or place medicinal products on the market. In order to improve the exchange of information, the BASG publishes a „Shortages catalouge“ of medicinal products which we were notified about by the marketing authorisation holders.

For inquiries on drug prices, please contact Mrs Brigitte Pigisch and Mrs Mag. Simona Iskra of Division VII/B/5 of the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection. E-Mail: brigitte.pigisch@gesundheitsministerium.gv.at and simona.iskra@gesundheitsministerium.gv.at.

The reimbursement of pharmaceutical costs is the responsibility of the Federation of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions (Erstattungskodex).
