WNV Italy - Update
The Federal Office for Public Health has been informed by the Italian authority that, in addition to the regions already mentioned, the ID WNV NAT testing for donations of blood and blood components has now been introduced in the provinces of Biella (Piedmont), Venice (Veneto) and Pordenone (Friuli Venezia Giulia) due to the detection of WNV positive mosquito pools or WNV positive birds.
Nationwide in Italy, donors who have stayed at least one night in the listed region are excluded from donation for 28 days. We therefore ask you to pay attention to this in the anamnesis interviews and donor selection.
This letter is in accordance with the current state of information of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
