The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care was informed by the ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) that in Greece, in the current season, a total of 59 human WNV infections were recorded. Two deaths have been reported related to WNV infections. Affected regions are: Thessaloniki, Larisa, Kilkis, Imathia, Chalkidiki, Pella, Karditsa/Trikala and Pieria.
Therefore, it is requested that appropriate attention be paid in the medical history interviews and donor selections.
This letter corresponds to the current state of information of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
