Maxviril

Enforcement | 23/03/2022

The product called "Maxviril" is marketed as a purely herbal dietary supplement especially for men.

The Austrian Official Medicines Control Laboratory (OMCL) analysed two samples of “Maxviril” that contained the undeclared synthetic substances sulfohydroxyhomosildenafil and desmethylcarbodenafil. These are derivatives of the active pharmaceutical ingredient sildenafil, so that the product is to be classified as an illegal drug. This poses an unknown health risk. Consequently, the claim of the manufacturer/distributor that "Maxviril" merely "contains a balanced mixture of natural herbs [...]" does not correspond to the truth.

Importing this illegal drug from abroad is a punishable offence.

If you have any information regarding these or similar, possibly illegal products, please report it directly to the Enforcement Section of the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care at enforcement@basg.gv.at
