Malaria infection Greece

To the Federal Office for Security in the Health Care was from the Greek Authorityinformed that five confirmed, local acquired malaria cases in Greece recorded have been recorded.

The affected areas are:

• Municipality of West Ahaia, Regional Unit (RU) of Ahaia, Region of West Greece
• Municipality of Andavida-Kyllini, Regional Unit of Ileia, Region of West Greece
• Municipality of Thiva, Regional Unit of Viotia
• Municipality of Messolonghi, Regional Unit of Aitolokarnania

The Greek authority conducts in the list of the affected areas more regions an, in which in the year 2016 local acquired Malaria cases confirmed have been confirmed. These areas are:

• Municipality of West Ahaia, Regional Unit (RU) of Ahaia, Region of West Greece
• Municipality of Andavida-Kyllini, Regional Unit of Ileia, Region of West Greece
• Municipality of Lagada, Regional Unit of Thessaloniki
• Municipality of Skiathos, Regional Unit of Magnesia and Sporades
• Municipality of Tempi, RU of Larissa

Measures the of blood safety serve, as well as the Proclamation of endemic areas, will be from the Greek authorities for 2 consecutive mosquito seasons maintained, thus are the regions from 2016 also 2017 in the Anamnesis and donor selection to take into account.
