The Federal Office for Safety in Health Carewas informed by the portuguese authority that an outbreak of an outbreak of the legionnaires' disease (legionellosis) in Portugal recorded has been.

The affected area ist a suburb of Lisbon called Vila Franca de Xira (municipalities: Póvoa de Santa Iria, Forte da Casa, Vialonga).

As of November 17, 2014, 331 cases and 8 deaths have been reported in the in the affected area reported.
