The Federal Office for Public Health Safety has been informed by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) of the first documented outbreak of ZIKA virus infection in Brazil and in some Pacific Islands (Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia).

This is the first documented outbreak of Zika virus (ZIKV) infection in Brazil and in the Americas.

This is the first chikungunya case reported from Spain without travel history to endemic areas. The infection occurred most likely in the city of Gandía, Valencia community. The case developed symptoms on 7 July while travelling in France.

The Federal Office for Public Health Safety has been informed by the Portuguese authority that an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease(legionellosis) has been recorded in Portugal.

The outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in Portugal with 311 cases reported as of 13 November 2014 is one of the largest in the European Union. Vila Franca de Xira is not considered a tourist destination and no case has so far been confirmed outside Portugal. Despite the magnitude of the outbreak, this event can be considered a local event. All cases were infected in Vila Franca de Xira where the outbreak is occurring.

The Federal Office for Public Health Security has been notified that four autochthonous cases of human chikungunya infection have been recorded in Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon Region, southern France.

The Federal Office for Public Health Safety has been informed by the Hungarian authority that further cases of human WNV infection have been recorded in Hungary. The affected areas are: Városföld (Bács-Kiskun County) and District XXI (Budapest).

A document on "The risk of transmission of Ebola virus via donated blood and other substances of human origin in the EU" was sent to the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

The Federal Office for Public Health Safety has been informed by the Hungarian authority that two more cases of human WNV infection have been recorded in Hungary. The affected areas are: Méhkerék (Bék és County) and Nádudvar (Hajdú-Bihar County).
