The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the Italian authority that in the Piedmont region in other provinces the ID WNV NAT testing for donations of blood and blood components has been introduced.
- Novara (due to the detection of WNV NAT positive mosquito pools)
- Cuneo and Alessandria (due to WNV NAT positive tested birds)
- Sassari (horses tested positive due to WNV NAT)
Nationwide in Italy, donors who have stayed at least one night in the stated region are excluded from donation for 28 days.
We therefore ask you to pay attention to this in the anamnesis discussions and donor selection. This letter is in accordance with the current state of information of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
