The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) that, according to media reports, three human cases of WNV infection have been reported from the province of Seville, Spain. Details of other affected regions are not currently known to the BASG.
It is therefore requested that the relevant information be taken into account in the medical history discussions and donor selections.
This letter corresponds to the current state of information of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
