The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) that 231 human WNV infections have already been recorded in Greece, during the current season. 20 deaths have been reported related to WNV infections. New affected regions are: Fthiotida, Thasos/Kavala and Drama. Therefore, appropriate attention in medical history discussions and donor selections is requested.
This letter corresponds to the current information status of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
